Sasha's Third Birthday at the Shedd Aquarium

We wanted to have a great day with Sasha so we decided to take a family outing to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. After all, it was his third birthday, his last day of 'freedom' before he started school and perhaps, it will be the last birthday Sasha has as an only human (well ... we have other children after all just only one human child :) Nathan took the day off and we drove downtown (isn't that AWESOME that Nathan took the day off for this!). The forecast was for a flash freeze (sounds like a horror movie doesn't it?).

We saw so many things and Sasha really loved

the beluga whales (he now has a beluga whale - is there still room in his bed for him?? Well ... )and dolphins.
We ate lunch in the 'fancy restaurant' overlooking Lake Michigan. Very pretty. Sasha enjoyed some goldfish, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and, most of all, his birthday cheesecake. He was able to blow out the candle all by himself and with no spitting.

The spiky lizard that Sasha saw was 'THIS' tall!

Sasha meeting Sponge Bob before our 4D movie.

Watching our first 4D movie which neither Sasha nor I enjoyed. Somehow getting blasted, sprayed, scared by things popping out at us, and shaken just wasn't our thing. We did, however, enjoy being silly in our very cool glasses :)

We made it home safely before the 'flash freeze' although it did drop 25 degrees from the time that we left Chicago to the time that we arrived home.

It was another great day in Sasha's big third birthday week extravaganza. (If you can't tell by the photos, he is SO much fun!)
