School Days

In preparation for Sasha turning three, he was re-tested by our school district to see if he qualified for school-based assistance. He qualified in speech so he will begin the Early Childhood program at Millburn.

I must admit that having our three year old son picked up on a little bus so that he can go to school blows my mind. Isn't he too young to be going to school? Isn't he too young to ride a little bus all by himself? I had mentally prepared for this day to occur when he turned five but had never thought it would happen this soon. But alas ...

Ms. Trisha, Sasha's new teacher, stopped by the house last week to meet Sasha which I thought was exceptionally nice. Today, Nathan and I took him to school to meet his class and give him a chance to ride on the bus. He has six other children in his class including one little boy and five cute little girls. He arrived in time to dine on snacks of Oreos and drink juice. He was sold on school after the first oreo He got a chance to play with a couple of puzzles then we put his coat on so he could take a practice ride on the bus. He loved it and we were told that he was very good.
I know this is the best thing to help him catch up with his peers. He's already mastered one of his educational goals - counting to 10. Guess we'll have to keep practicing on 11 -20.
Next Wednesday will be his first real day of school - the day after his birthday. Nathan and I plan to take him to the Shedd Aquarium on Tuesday for his big three year old celebration. We also have a party planned for Sunday with some of his friends and Ice Iowa. Should be an exciting week!
