Happy Halloween!

As a mother of a toddler, there are certain 'dress' moments in the year that you feel define your reign as "Mama". These are the times when you feel the neighborhood, relatives and the like watch to see what your child is wearing and judge your mama skills based on the outfit. During a normal year, since we don't have any impending high school graduation or prom, these days for us are Sasha's birthday, Easter, Fourth of July (afterall, Sasha became a citizen the HARD way - maybe not hard on him but certainly hard on Baba and I!), Halloween, Christmas picture day and Christmas.

Last year for Halloween, Sasha was a lion. Our costume was purchased at Old Navy and it defined my new motherhood status well. It was a full body, zip up costume made of fleece so it was very warm. As a new mother, that's what I was concerned with - the cold, October night where my new son would catch his first, horrible illness.

This year, the costume choice was easy. Sasha, who prior to this completely ignored anything soft and glowing, has decided that he loves Little Einsteins. The boy could sit for HOURS and watch the same episodes over and over (he is typically limited to one hour of television a day so don't actually let him sit for hours). For you non-enthusiasts, Little Einsteins is a Disney show. It features a classical piece as the music of the day and a piece of artwork. The Little Einsteins travel to exotic locales (many of which we have visited surprisingly enough) and solve missions. The team consists of Annie who loves to sing, her brother, Leo, who loves to conduct (or as Godfather Bryan describes is 'management'), June who loves to dance and Quincy who can play any instrument. The team is very culturally diverse. I think Sasha has a little crush on June. The team travels on Rocket to their next adventure and there are a myriad of tricks that you have to do to get Rocket to go, go fast, blast off, etc.

So, Sasha was Rocket this year. The costume was plush red material with the Little Einsteins on board and ready for their next mission. It even lit up when you pressed a button. Sasha was delighted! Another thing Mommies are judged on is how many other children dressed like your child (this doesn't test the quality of your Mommyhood just the creativity). I'm pleased to tell you that I saw no other child dressed as Rocket and many parents gave Sasha extra candy because they thought his costume was so cute.

You may be thinking (and wrongly I might add) that I somehow made this costume. I promise that one year I will make a costume but this wasn't the year. I found this little gem on the online Disney Store. Too cute. And, I think we're going to suspend it from the ceiling in Sasha's room so he can continue to give June little smoochies as he passes (yes, Sasha actually bends over and gives June a little smooch every time he passes this costume). Is this Sasha's first crush???

I will add photos later as I'm in Texas at the moment and my photos are at home.
