This Week's Schedule & Happy News
So ... for those of you awaiting your trip, I thought I'd post our schedule for the week so you can get an idea of what your last week will be like in Moscow (yes, you will be here SOON so keep the faith).
First, some happy, happy news. It's an interesting journey - adoption. This time around I have been a frequent participant on many boards - Moscow Region Adoption, Russian Adoption, Agency Research, Kaluga Adoption, FRUA and the Lighthouse board. What you find on these various boards, some better than others, is a community of folks that have been there done that, are searching for a way to expand their family, or are in various stages of waiting for their children to come to their forever home. Over the past few months (I know, I know ... our wait hasn't been very long for this adoption but we really paid our dues for Sasha's adoption), I have met some of the most awesome people and am so lucky to be a part of their adoption journey. I told one of them this morning that is awaiting news of her referral trip that I think I actually get more excited about my friends' journeys than my own. Is it a sickness to be so excited for others successes? Well .. I hope not. So, I sit here in our Moscow apartment listening to the sweet sounds of Norah Jones, watching a little girl play with the strings of her Baba's pants and am totally psyched about the news of my dear friends in the U.S.
So .. here goes ... (btw, Nathan thinks you need a chart or something to remember all the people but silly him, it's easy!). Jules is awaiting 'the call' to hear about her referral trip. She thinks that she may travel THIS Saturday to receive her referral next Tuesday. It's funny to think that we might cross her plane in the air. I'll wave to you, Jules! Ivana, who has waited FAR too long with her previous agency and switched to our agency, has her dossier in Moscow getting translated. This means that her referral should be coming soon. YEA! And, my funny friend Holly (okay .. you're funny too Jules ;), who recently switched to our agency went from expecting a referral towards the end of the year to expecting her referral in early fall. Yea! Yea! Yea! And, Kym and John will be coming back into town the week of the 4th of July to pick up thier sweet daughter. So .. good news abounds and there are others that are traveling soon as well and others that the line is getting shorter. My only regret with all this good news is that I won't be here to show everyone the Moscow that I've grown to enjoy (some people start out loving this city, others start off hating it but I think I've grown to respect and enjoy it). I will leave happier knowing that we have dear people that will make our friends' stay here better. Thank you Dinia and Ron and the others that want to help adoptive families have a wonderful stay in Moscow. A big YEA for you!
This week's schedule is:
Monday - Masha stops by to help us fill out all our Embassy paperwork and takes all the Embassy documents including the photos that they need to see of Nathan with Mia (needed if one parent has departed the country because he's too chicken to fly on a trans-atlantic flight with someone younger than 21 :)
Tuesday - Passport documentation for Mia is submitted to the Passport office.
Dinner with the Paos (the family that adopted two beautiful little girls. They are from Puerto Rico).
Wednesday - 8:45 a.m. Picked up by Masha to go to the clinic to get Mia's physical which is required for the Embassy visit.
Thursday - 9 a.m. Pick up Mia's passport. 11 a.m. go to the Embassy to drop off our paperwork.
Friday - 2 p.m. Go to the Embassy for our interview and to collect the 'hefty big manilla envelope' that we'll need to bring Mia into the U.S.
Saturday - 2:40 p.m. Leave Moscow with a potentially screaming, ill behaved little girl for Chicago. Our flight gets in at 4:25 p.m. We're hoping a bit of benadryl will calm Mia's nerves so she won't be inconsolable the entire flight.
Of course, we are looking forward to getting back together with Dinia and Ron. We have been enjoying spending time with Toni and John. Isn't it crazy that you come all the way here to find people that you know?? We will also be rendez vousing with a new Dad with his son once he gets back to Moscow on Thursday or Friday evening.
It's another very exciting week in Moscow!

Thanks for all the useful info. I can't wait until I get to use it! I am hoping maybe my timeline has moved up, too since I was being told beginning of 2009 for a referral. I am going to check with Victoria today. That would be so wonderful!
This information is more valuable than gold. I have made a printout and will be taking with us. Thanks for keeping us waiting folks in mind. John P.
Thanks for the update on dossiers! I can hardly keep up with my information, let alone know where everyone else is in the process! LOL! So glad things are moving and that we will all be united with our kiddos very soon! Has it hit you yet, Tamara, that you're now a mother of 2??? :)
Holly
