Registration Nightmare Continues

So ... Yuri was right, I can not be registered now because I am past the 72 hours limit in the country. Vlad just called and he has another idea that might work and he will know tomorrow.

As a foreigner, I'm not sure you would ever know if your registration stamp was authentic or not. Even Russians don't know the system and what the stamp is supposed to look like. Vlad tells me this is to keep track of immigrants and to get more money from them. He said that there is a 2000 rubles fine for not being registered in time. I don't care about paying the fine, I just don't want a black mark on my name so that I can come again to Russia (well .. in the theoretical sense ... I must admit that I have no plans to return to Russia any time in the near future .. but hey .. I'm sure I said the same thing in 2006 and look at me now!). Vlad assured me that this would not cause any permanent challenges. He also thought that this wouldn't impact our ability to get Mia's passport. I have to admit that having staff her in Russia that check on things and work things ahead of time is such a relief. I expect that problems are going to arise. It's a foreign country. But, I want the people that are representing my agency to know how to handle all these problems. I have not been disappointed with the Lighthouse staff here that's for sure.

"It will all work out ... it will all work out ... it will all work out ... " as I click heels together of the only pair of shoes that I brought, my Texas longhorn leather flip flops (yes, I have a pair of heels for my court visit but that's it). Yes, I was VERY tired when I packed for this trip. I will tell you that these little Buckey beauties are really holding up well despite all my walking. I'm sure the Russians are fascinated by my choice of footwear. Go Buckey's!
