Baba Arrives!

Well ... much to my disappointment we didn't get to meet the local artist at Dinia and Ron's apartment. He does really interesting work. He'll take a photo of your family and paint it with St. Basil's, etc. Very cool. I did get Mia into her pink tights to match her pink and white striped dress and she looked very cute.

Mia spent much of the day napping and I even fell asleep at one point. Baba arrived around 2:30 p.m. and we toasted her arrival to Moscow.

We met Toni for dinner at Shesh Besh which is located almost at the base of our apartment. It's an Azeri restaurant and very good. The little lady from the kitchen that speaks English was brought out to our table to confirm our order. I told her it was so nice to see her again. As we awaited our meal, I waved to the chef who seemed glad to have the chance to come over and chat with us. With our broken Russian and his broken English, we managed to understand that his brother now lives in New York. He was a sweet man.

We ate kabobs, plov, and speciality bread and baklava for dessert. Very yummy. The most interesting piece about this restaurant was their adoration of Mia. They quickly got us a high chair (first place in Moscow that's done this) which made it easier to keep feeding her Gerber Fruit puffs while we ate. At some point during the meal, one of the waitresses freed Mia from her high chair and toured her around the restaurant. The chef took her for a bit, the hostess, another waitress .. she was basically working the crowd. They were all very, very nice and took her for about 3o minutes. The waitresses were having so much fun with her, it was great.

Our evening ended with us saying farewell to Toni and going upstairs to put a little girl into bed. She was very tired from her social networking and immediately fell asleep. Another good day in Moscow.
