Wednesday with Mia

We started off the day WAY TOO early. Mia has decided that we should rise the moment the sun starts shining which in Moscow in summer is EARLY. I kept reminding her that it wasn't time to get up and after a couple hours, gave up on any chance of sleeping.

I was SO lucky to have run into the Warrens who were kind enough to give me Toni Johnson's email address. Toni and John have known my folks and worked at the same place as my Dad for ages and came to Nathan and my wedding. They are HERE! What an amazingly small world! Via email, Toni and I set up a time for her to pop over to our apartment since I had to wait here for the return of my passport and white sheet by Yuri. We drank cold tea but mostly had a great time just catching up. I've missed a lot in her life and she's a delightful person. How fun our next week and a half will be with all the awesome people we've discovered are here and so close to our apartment.

We decided to eat at the Japanese place next to TGIFs. It was pretty good although trying to get a fork for Toni proved challenging. Mia was a bit fussy as she had decided that she really didn't need a morning nap. We walked back to my apartment and Toni bid farewell with the promise that we'll try to get together on Friday so she can see my Mom. Our mission: to make sure Toni G. has the time of her life while she's in Moscow. We have to keep remembering that the reason our first trip was such a misery had nothing to do with Russia.

Tonight Mia and I are meeting Ron and Dinia in front of TGIFs (yes, it feels like my home away from home somehow) so that they can help me traverse all the stairs in the pedestrian walk so we can make it over to Starbuck's on Starry Arbat (Old Arbat) (yes, Starbucks of all my fellow FRUAers). We're meeting Michelle and Ian Robson who just signed their letter of intent to adopt their daughter. YEA! Michelle (or Moncheremommy on FRUA) and I have been emailing this week and working on getting a time when we can all get together. Sounds like tonight we'll have a lot to celebrate. The pink party is starting (calling Jules ... you need to get over here baby!)!

Hark ... I hear a princess arising from her afternoon nap on this rainy Moscow afternoon. We're dining at Googl Moogl which is close to Starry Arbat so that should be fun. I haven't ever been so I'm looking forward to it .. oh and also to see all of Ian and Michelle's photos of course!

I'll post photos with my next post. It hasn't been a big camera ready day yet ..
