A Typical Day in the Life of ...

Yesterday, was a brighter day especially compared to Monday. Blake was less interested in Sasha (although he still thinks he's a two-legged cat) and actually took a little carpet nap while Sasha ate his breakfast this morning. This is really a milestone in their relationship. Usually Blake sits panting and shaking, staring at Sasha or trying to lick his well-greased feet off. Snickers is usually as far away from Sasha as possible while still being at the kitchen table. Yesterday she growled and snapped (just a warning shot - no physical contact) at Sasha when he almost stepped on her. He later 'beamed' her in the head really hard with his vibrating rattle (not on purpose - she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time).

We have added a large basket for Sasha's family room toys. It makes for a neater clean up than stacking a 30 foot pile onto his little table. He has his favorite games that we play daily so I thought I'd give you a typical day in the life of Alexander Christensen a.k.a. Sasha.

The Tickle Toll
Our living room is set up in an L configuration. The sofa and love seat form the L and there is a small table at that end. There is just enough room for a munchkin to squeeze through. So, one of Sasha's games is to squeeze through where he knows he'll have to pay a tickle toll. He'll walk up to the opening and get the biggest grin on his face and he laughs and laughs as you give him his 'fine'. Here's a photo of Sasha and the Tickle Toll.

Giving the Boxers Smoochies

While I didn't capture the actual smooch, here is the after smooch face. Snickers tries her darndest to stay clear of Sasha's path, but he's fascinated with the boxers. He will lean in to her face and give her a little kiss. When he lifts his face you can see he's grossed out by all the whiskers but he'll always go in for another.

Texture Books
We have heard of many institutionalized children that have a hard time with textures. This doesn't appear to be a challenge for Sasha. He loves books and he especially likes the ones that have different textures. This is his bear book which asks on each page "who do you love little bear" and then you flip open to reveal the hidden page and the page says "I love you, Daddy" and you can rub Dad's tum-tum.

So, now he's added to his routine, giving each bear a kiss as we go through the book. This page is about how the little bear loves his Grandma (or Baba as the case may be).

The Telephone Game
We used to play a telephone game with his cars but his new 'truck' has a mobile phone so we've upgraded our game. Here is Sasha in the hallway, accepting a very urgent call.

The New Truck
His new truck is made by Disney. There are a thousand things he can play with - each making it's own unique (and I must admit sometimes irritating) sound. The sounds would be better if they weren't SO LOUD. Wow .. it's loud. You'd think that a designer at Disney would've thought to install a volume control or an Off switch. Sasha loves it though.

Time with Dad Outside
Sasha loves being outside. He loves the deck and melts down when deck time is over. Nathan provides a good toss with his added height being a bonus. Sasha still loves to be chased and giggles when he is tossed in the air by his Dad.

On Tuesday, Nathan and Sasha spent some time in our side bed looking at pinecones. This is a wonderful tradition that I remember fondly on my visits to Florida.
