A New Swimming Teacher & More Outdoor Fun
So .. now that the internet has been up for more than 24 hours, I thought a small update was needed (thanks Amy for the gentle reminder :).

First, here is a photo of our eldest son after surviving another morning with the munchkins. He's worn out and ready for a morning nap. In a small victory, he has claimed mini bunny as his hostage after reading his second Dora book and falling asleep.
This week was Sasha's first swimming lesson in a couple of months. Donnie, Sasha's first instructor, has left our health club to pursue a summer of
being a lifeguard for the Grayslake Park District. In the fall, he will pursue his dream of becoming a high school math teacher at ISU. Wow .. high schoolers are a tough crowd so I wish him all the best. Sasha's new teacher, Elsa, seems a nice girl although she allowed Sasha to spend most of his lesson splashing her relentlessly. She'll have to toughen up a bit if Sasha is actually going to learn how to swim. He TOTALLY has the splashing thing DOWN pat!

The Little Miss is working her way through her outfits. Even the outfits that are not my favs still look good on her. The girl has great coloring ...ooh .. .and fabulous hair. I'm contemplating taking her in for a trim as her bangs are becoming 'fro like.
Our days here are as expected. The little Miss is doing better each day and Sasha is having his challenges. He has always been someone that wants Mama's approval and now, he's not that person any longer. I'm sure this is just the adjustment to having a new baby sister that takes up Mom's time. I've added activities each day that only he can do but, so far, it hasn't solved our challenge. I'm sure it will just take time and it's normal but it doesn't make it any easier to cope with. He's always been my good, sweet boy so I'm hoping that this little boy returns. I miss him!
We finally got Sasha's sand box all cleaned out. Nathan cleared out the hideously overgrown invasive plants that covered the sandbox and is trying to tackle the rest of the overgrowth before it covers our house :) UGH ... it's quite a p
roject. We've had so much rain that everything is SO big (no, Sasha is not wiping the sand from his hair, he's swatting our horribly crazy mosquito population. He and I are MAGNETS. People should pay to have us hang out with them outside).
This is Mia in her play pen ... uummm, I mean play yard. I guess it's inappropriate to call it a play pen anymore. This little device is used to keep Mia comfortable so we can garden and ... go to the bathroom while both kiddos are up.

Our 'house plants' (i.e. all the tropical plants that I own that have been planted in pots that move inside in the winter and outside in the summer. It's quite a chore and watering them all in the winter takes me hours every week) are doing well this summer. This plumeria has honored us with the first bloom of the summer. I grew this one from a cutting so he's doing very well. I'll post a photo when his blooms are fully open. For those of you who aren't familiar with plumeria, they are the flower that Hawaiian leis are made from. They are one of my fav plants and I have about 30 different varieties of them some that I started from seed.
Mia is definitely a girl on the move. She's almost given up the 'damsel' mode in favor of walking about and playing on her own. Yesterday was her first attempt at feeding herself (okay, the orphanage SAID she could feed and dress herself and that she was potty trained but I wonder what their definition of these milestones really are as the girl could barely walk when we picked her up!).
Tonight she used a spoon to feed herself mushed up spaghetti. I thought we'd have to hose her down after her efforts but she did really well. Overall, she's turning out to be a happy little girl who still prefers lounging in the grass to swinging from a vine. She is totally a little girl after all.

LOL wonderful updates! I'll keep the gentle reminders coming, but honestly, you can tell me to stuff it! I don't have the two kiddos to deal with!
I agree that you have a total girl on your hands! Lounging is good, however... and I prefer to have a nice margarita when lounging too, although she'll need to wait a bit for that...
Sounds like things are going very well and that everyone is adjusting nicely! They are both adorable!
