Free Toni and Tamara!
Just a quick update on our plight (yes, it seems like a plight now). We were told by the Cradle Russia and the U.S. Embassy staff in Moscow that my prints were likely to be processed faster than Nathan's. Now, I'll tell you that I found this hard to imagine since nothing in Russia seems 'faster' than the U.S. but I was willing to go along with it. Alas, Nathan's prints have cleared and were sent to the U.S. Embassy on Monday. My prints have not been cleared yet (and no, it's not do to some exciting adventure that has recently been added to my record).
I can't tell you how depressing this is. Just a recap on our situation -
July 14 - Fingerprints expired
July 19 - Interviewed at the Embassy and found out our fingerprints expired
July 19 - Tamara's fingerprints taken in Russia, printed out and given to Embassy for processing
July 19 - changed airline tickets to July 26
July 19 - Nathan's fingerprints taken in Waukegan after working the system to get expedited
July 20 - Originally scheduled departure date
July 24 - Nathan's prints and clearance arrive at U.S. Embassy in Moscow
July 25 - Must get Tamara's prints early at the U.S. Embassy or won't be able to obtain Sasha's visa
July 27 - Russia visas expire for Tamara and Toni
On a positive note, Sasha had a good baby day yesterday. He has gotten over pitching a fit when we remove his bib and he seems to be eating in more normal quantities (he still eats more than we do but not so much that we wonder if his stomach will burst). Mom says he looks all through the room for me when I leave so perhaps he's starting to feel like he belongs with us. I've never seen any child that loves water more. He puts his face into the water and blows bubbles. He should have no problem learning to swim. I'll get down and splash him and he laughs and laughs. When I stop, he grabs my hands and puts them back in the water as if saying, "Do it again! Do it again! Do it again!"
Everyone keep praying for us. Sometimes I think we may lose our minds if we aren't allowed to leave soon. We're keeping our tickets for tomorrow just in case the Embassy received our prints last night. Our agency is supposed to call the Embassy today to find out if they received them. Here's praying and hoping that we'll get good news soon!
